What is Equity and Inclusion?

Add Your Comments >>

Educators are increasingly focused on creating equitable and inclusive learning environments for all students, regardless of their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, or other factors. This includes addressing systemic racism and discrimination in schools and developing culturally responsive teaching practices.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) has been a controversial topic in recent years. Critics of diversity, equity, and inclusion have launched attacks on all things “woke.” Since the popularity of anti-racism ballooned in 2020, there has been a backlash against policies and practices designed to rectify past harms and inequities.

There are several complaints against DEI programs in education. One of the complaints is that DEI programs can create a hostile environment for Jewish staff.1 Another issue is that DEI programs are failing due to lack of accountability. Some people believe that DEI has failed and we do not need more of it.
